Course Description

A quick snapshot of what this Masterclass covers!

‘AI-in-Accounting 101’ is designed for accounting professionals who want to understand how AI is reshaping CPA firms, finance teams, audit, tax, advisory, and broader accounting workflows. The course introduces learners to the shift from manual, task-heavy accounting work to exception-driven, AI-assisted delivery models where professionals supervise workflows, validate outputs, and bring judgment to AI-enabled processes. The session is structured around the Miles AI-in-Accounting Competency Framework, helping participants understand the progression from AI-readiness for accountants to applied AI across accounting functions and, eventually, firm-wide AI operating models. Learners will explore how AI changes the nature of work across accounting by reducing repetitive effort, improving visibility, strengthening controls, and allowing professionals to spend more time on review, advisory, and insight-driven work. Participants will also see practical demonstrations of how modern AI tools fit into accounting workflows. The session includes hands-on walkthroughs of Microsoft 365 Copilot for drafting, summarization, and analysis; Copilot Studio for building a sample accounting agent; and related examples using Power Automate, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI to support workflow routing, dashboards, exception monitoring, and decision support. By the end of the course, learners will have a practical understanding of the AI-first shift in accounting, the core capabilities required of future-ready accounting professionals, and the types of workflows where AI can create meaningful value. The course equips participants to think beyond individual tools and begin evaluating how AI can be responsibly, practically, and strategically integrated into accounting practice.
